On the Peninsula Report radio show, David Ruiz explained how the Almaden Ranch retail center plans are the subject of debate among San Jose residents — who fear the center will bring increased pollution, traffic and safety hazards — and city officials — who support the development project.

Jessica Parks detailed how Santa Clara County – home of Silicon Valley – is also home to a wide array of vineyards and wineries, which are hoping to compete with their better-known counterparts in Napa and Sonoma.

And Emily DeRuy shared the stories of national and international surfers who have qualified to compete in the Mavericks surf competition near Half Moon Bay. They will have only 24-hours’ notice to travel to the contest when wave conditions are right.

Listen live to KZSU (FM 90.1) or stream the Peninsula Report online every Friday from 3-4 p.m.
