Transition Palo Alto hosted its annual Holiday Expo on Sunday, Dec. 8. Residents in the Palo Alto community gathered behind Common Ground — a nonprofit nursery located on College Avenue — bringing a range of items to share with the community.

The event featured composting lessons from Annette Puskarich, a representative of the Santa Clara County Home Composting Education Program and knife-sharpening lessons from William Mutch, a permaculture consultant and teacher for Transition Silicon Valley. In addition, community members attended a bike workshop and participated in a garden share earlier in the day.

According to Transition Palo Alto’s website, the organization’s purpose is to foster “community-led responses to peak oil and climate change, building resilience and helping to create a more satisfying community life.” Transition Palo Alto hosts a garden share at Common Ground on the second Sunday of each month.
