When construction finished on the Hetch Hetchy System — the reservoir and aqueduct that provides more than half of the Bay Area with water — local residents were so thankful, they built a temple in its honor.
The Pulgas Water Temple serves as a reminder of the Herculean scale of this public works project that brought a reliable water supply to the Bay Area more than 80 years ago. But as California faces one of the most widespread droughts in state history, it will be more important than ever to conserve and use water more efficiently.
In the video above, an official from the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency suggests some of the easiest and most effective ways we can cut water usage during the drought.
