After identifying sandboxes in two Redwood City parks that were contaminated with E. coli bacteria, the city is renovating the parks, removing the sandboxes and replacing them with water attractions.
At two parks in Redwood City, sand features have been permanently closed, due to recurring outbreaks of E. Coli bacteria in the sand itself. Renovations to change the sand to water features are underway.
Redwood City’s Hawes Park, closed for renovations since April, is scheduled to reopen by Dec. 8.
