Local residents gathered at Lytton Plaza in downtown Palo Alto Saturday night for the third-annual Holiday Tree Lighting. The event began with a mini-snowman contest, in which families brought sunglasses, clothing and other props to adorn the 12-inch snowmen. A local rock band played holiday songs and Whole Foods gave out free hot cider and pastries.
