Mountain View sparked the holiday season tonight with its annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration in downtown’s Civic Center Plaza. The city’s Community Service Department hosted the celebration, and Mountain View Mayor R. Michael Kasperzak introduced several school groups and local artists, who performed live music throughout the evening.
Santa arrived at City Hall for the ceremonial tree lighting and then went inside to take photos with children. Families also enjoyed other holiday activities, including small snowball fights. Viewing space was at a premium at the crowded event, so many children had to ride their parents’ shoulders for a better view.
