Beloved children’s story ‘Goodnight Moon’ takes the stage in Palo Alto [PHOTOS]

A crowd of first graders from Duveneck Elementary School took a field trip a few streets down to the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre yesterday. They went to see Goodnight Moon, a musical production of the classic storybook by Margaret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd.

The musical, written by Chad Henry, infuses the story of Goodnight Moon with fun characters like a male tooth fairy and three dancing bears, and with characters from the Hey Diddle Diddle nursery rhyme: a cat with a fiddle, a cow trying to jump over the moon, a dog, a dish and a spoon.

The Children’s Theatre hosted nine special weekday matinee performances just for students. Seven Palo Alto elementary schools, four from the surrounding area and even one pre-school attended.

Weekend and evening shows are open to the general public. Performances of Goodnight Moon run through Sunday.
