After two years as reigning county mock trial champions, The Menlo School team was dethroned at the NorCal Mock Trial Invitational, which the school hosted in Menlo Park in January.
Tamalpais High School took home top honors and Menlo School came in second at the competition, which drew 10 top high school teams from across northern California. Tamalpais High, led by attorney coach David Vogelstein, is the reigning Marin County Champion, and Menlo School holds the title for San Mateo County.
The teams faced off in a five-round, two-day mock trial tournament Jan. 12-13, and local judges, attorneys and former mock trial competitors scored the contest. Both teams will compete in their respective 2013 county competitions at the end of January, and the winners will participate in the state finals in Riverside, Calif. March 22-24.
