When San Francisco won the bid this past December to host the America’s Cup international sailing races in 2012 and 2013, officials quickly began pulling together plans to revamp waterfront transit in anticipation of the estimated 500,000 visitors the event will likely bring to the city’s piers on weekend race days.

Some of the solutions to handle the traffic include completing capital projects that have remained shelved for years from a lack of funds.

Now, with the excitement surrounding the America’s Cup races, officials hope to give these projects new life, but, as this video shows, coming up with the money will not be easy.
