Historic replica tall ships visit Port of Redwood City [PHOTOS]

History repeated itself as two historic sailing ships made their way down the west coast and docked at the Port of Redwood City this week. The two ships, Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain, are replications, owned and operated by the Historical Seaport Authority in Washington. Their crews donned costumes authentic to sailors in the 1800s.

Crew members provided gave public lessons about the lives of sailors in the era, and the ships staged battles using their authentic canons (but no gun powder) during performances. The tall ships are now continuing their journeys along the coast with the next stop in Sausalito.
