With new additions and changes to the application to become a U.S. citizen, completing the process that would allow one to enjoy all American freedoms may be daunting for those permanent residents interested in enjoying full citizenship. In an effort to assist green card holders in this process, the Santa Clara County Citizenship Collaborative held its annual Citizenship Day at San Jose City College on April 12.

With sessions in 14 different languages — everything from English and Spanish to Cambodian and Farsi — attendees were advised on the steps to successfully become citizens, a process that can take up to six months from start to finish.

The video above gives more information about that process and the Citizenship Day event.
